This would have been one of the Expedition’s most essential supplies. Anyone know what it is?

I think its a tool that helps pick up hot things like those balls can get really hot thats when you need the tool.

Maybe theyr'e something that they might have used to pick up things in a fire and the little balls are beads for jewelry or clothing
